When it comes to online shopping in Nigeria, it's not just clothes and computers that are being used to shop online but even books are now

Things you will need
==========
- A Nigerian Visa/Mastercard
- An Amazon account
- Internet connection
- Nigerian shipping address

How to do it
=========
One of the first things you'd need to do is get a USD debit card from your bank. Most banks now offer them as prepaid cards funded in US dollars. You can also use your Naira card to shop at AMazon but I recommend using a USD card since varying exchange rates will not affect your funds.

After getting the card, the next thing you have to do is log into your Amazon account if you already have one. If you are not a member yet, just register with your email address and it's free.

The next step is to visit the Amazon book store and this is located here

Find any books you want and add them your cart. After you are through with your shopping, simply proceed to checkout an make your payment.

Now when it comes to making payment, you should just enter the card details that came with your card. Choose the card type, enter the card number, Cardholder's name, expiry date and any other details you may be asked.

Enter your billing address and this is normally the same Nigerian address you used when getting the card from your bank.

You will also be asked to enter your shipping address which is basically the address you will want to receive the books when they are shipped to you.

The next step is to review your order before finalizing it. You will be able to estimate the shipping cost and the time it takes to get to Nigeria. Amazon can ship your books to Nigeria and you can choose a delivery speed which will ultimately reduce or increase your shipping cost.

Once you are through with reviewing your costs and order, you can click the final button "Place order" and the order will be processed.

Within a few minutes, if the order is accepted along with your card, your account will be debited with the final amount while Amazon will start processing your books for final shipping to Nigeria.

It may take about 5 to 30 days for your books to get to Nigeria and you can reduce your shipping costs by doing things like reducing the book weight, extending the delivery speed and taking advantage of discounted shipping.

Will Amazon accept my Naira Mastercard? Will they also be able to deliver it to my address in Nigeria? I would really be glad if they did because they are a lot of books that I want to buy but I don't know if those American websites deliver books outside America.

Yes, Cletus, Amazon will deliver books to Nigeria. It's one of the few things they normally deliver directly to Nigeria. They also deliver even DVDs and many other items unlike was the case in the past and yes, they also accept credit/debit cards issued in Nigeria even if it's in Naira as long as it's a Mastercard or Visa. Just buy any book you want and wait for it to be delivered. You can choose a faster or slower delivery depending on the urgency and your budget. Faster delivery cost more than slow delivery.
